Teaching Philosophy
As an educator, I am seriously thoughtful in creating a systematic approach to things that do not even need it. However, a classroom is one of those where the person running it and the classroom itself need structure. While providing that, it is also
important to foster creativity and education in a safe environment.
In my classroom, I ensure safe conversations about contemporary issues and
diversity occur and are expanded on. This specifically allows for my inclusive students
to have as fair an education as their peers. Additionally, this assists in education of all
my students because it is factual and from students who are primary sources of such
knowledge. Discussion of such topics stems possible lessons, literature reading and
productions for theatre.
Most importantly, I believe that fostering humanity in my students is integral for
them to be successful at life. If my students gain nothing from me, teaching them to be
accepting of everyone they come in contact to is all I ask. This ensures that regardless if
they continue their education, go into the workforce or something else- they are at least
prepared to treat people as equals with respect.
